The benefits of breakfast – from Louise Pyne

There’s a good reason that that old adage goes; eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for so many reasons. Recent research shows that skipping the morning meal increases the chances of a heart attack in men by 27 per cent, whilst another study earlier this month revealed that women who tuck into a hearty brekky are more likely to conceive successfully. Having the bulk of your daily calorie intake in the morning also helps to regulate hormones such as the blood sugar balancing hormone insulin which helps to fend of cravings and keeps those pesky excess pounds at bay.

Taking time out for breakfast is one of the best things you can do for your health but many of us skip this important meal because our daily schedules don’t allow for us to spend time preparing a nutritious meal first thing. Here at Vital Ingredient we’ve made your food choices super-easy by dishing up nutritious grab and go breakfast options so your health doesn’t pay the price.

We believe you should eat breakfast your way, so to make things easy for you we have a whopping 30 different healthy ingredients on offer so you can customise breakfast to suit you. Simply choose your base from our range of cereals and granola, add a topping such as fresh fruit and finish off with a choice of yoghurt or milk for a super start to your day.

We also have a selection of hot breakfasts on offer to help you brave the plummeting temperatures. Choose from low GI porridge topped with a free topping of your choice, (cinnamon and berry puree are our personal favourites), or enjoy a freshly prepared sanrnie like our hot artisan egg and sun kissed tomato sandwich which combines protein and complex carbohydrates to keep you feeling full until lunch. And when you feel you’ve deserved a treat, one of our sweet toasties will hit the spot just nicely! Choose from one fruit filling such as strawberries or banana along with one topping such as honey or blueberry compote and enjoy sandwiched in between two layers of multi-seed bread. Yum!
