ABOUT OUR COMPANY We  opened the first Vital Ingredient in Soho in 2001 and were the first 'movers' into the exciting world of 'tossed salads'.  We thought there were just too many sandwiches around and not enough in the way of proper salads and soup.  When we say 'proper', we really do mean it.  We work from a huge range of the finest & freshest ingredients and dressings, so you never need have the same lunch twice.  One of our clever customers had worked out there are 5700240 different salad combinations, that's over five and half million! Likewise, we take enormous pride in our big range of soups which we make from scratch in small batches (you have to or else they just don’t taste right), ranging from the simple and traditional to very bold and exotic.

As our name suggests, we are all about ingredients.  Every one of our ingredients is delivered fresh to each of the shop’s own kitchen and prepared in small batches. They are natural, never processed and purchased on quality and not cost. Any ingredient that is treated, processed in any way or that has had any nasty additives put in, doesn’t even get a look in at Vital Ingredient. We don’t want to blow our own trumpet too much, but we are sure this is why we have never had a quiet day’s business since we first opened… you just keep coming back for more!
